Uniontown to host Advent Church Tour
Uniontown’s first walking Advent Church Tour will have its finishing touches applied as eight downtown Uniontown churches make final preparations. The tour will take place on Sunday, Dec. 10, and will begin at 12:45 p.m. at St. Therese R.C. Church on Mill Street.
There are no reservations required.
The tour group will meet at 12:30 p.m. at the foot of the entry ramp to St. Therese while the walking tour will begin.
A carefully planned route has been mapped out that will take participants next to Trinity United Presbyterian, St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Great Bethel Baptist Church, Asbury United Methodist Church, Christ United Methodist Church, Central Christian Church and St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Those who have difficulty walking great distances may choose to drive the tour, keeping with the appointed times for each church.
Tour schedules will be available at each participating church or from the tour guides.
The tour will take place rain, snow or shine.
Participants should dress accordingly.
It is suggested that participants park in the downtown parking garage, since it is centrally located.
All of the churches will be decorated for the Advent season.
Participants are encouraged to bring along their cameras for photo opportunities.
Greeters will be on hand at each church to answer questions about the church’s history, architecture and ministries.
A free-will offering will be accepted. The offering will be divided among local community charities.
Music of the season will be offered by each church’s music ministry, and several of the churches will serve light refreshments.
The Beesontown Singers, as a culmination to the day’s activities, will present a concert of sacred and secular music at 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran on North Gallatin Avenue. The public is invited to attend this performance.
