The Geyer Performing Arts Center announces that “Scrooge – The Musical,” under the direction of Tracy Kelley, will take place today and Saturday in the center’s theater, 111 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale. Flatwoods Productions will present its annual Christmas musical “A Christmas Carol” on Dec. 1-3. All performances will be presented at the Curfew Grange, located at the corner of Route 201 south and Buena Vista Road (across from the cemetery) in Flatwoods. Curtain times are at 8 p.m. today and Saturday, with a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday. Dinner will be available before the performance at 6 p.m. Saturday There is an additional cost for the dinner, and reservations are needed approximately a week ahead of time. The Greater Uniontown Chorale will present “An Old-Fashioned Christmas” at 7 p.m. Saturday. The concert will be held at the Third Presbyterian Church, located on Union Street off Morgantown Street in Uniontown. There is no charge for the concert. However, an offering will be received.

Ohiopyle Bluegrass will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday. The doors will open at 5 p.m. Food and drinks will be sold. Seating will be provided. No alcohol or drugs will be permitted. There is a donation for admission. Local and regional bands will perform 30-minute sets on stage. Rooms are available for off-stage jamming. A 50/50 drawing will be held. The Ohiopyle Community Center is located on Main Street (Route 381) between Farmington and Normalville across the road from the waterfalls in Ohiopyle. Area 51, a local band playing new and classic rock, will appear at Smitty’s in Uniontown at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Band members include Jerry Onesi of Uniontown on bass guitar and vocals; Bob Mascia of Uniontown on drums and vocals; Jon Newman of Salisbury on guitar; and Jeff Morris of Pittsburgh on keyboards and vocals. The Hopwood Village Project will hold the fifth annual Light-up Night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today. The evening begins with the lighting of the community tree, located on the National Road at Dr. Bigham’s. Activities then move to the Hopwood Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall on Furnace Road for entertainment and a visit from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus who will distribute treats for the children. The public is invited to attend.

Christmas Craft/Bake Sale will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday in the upstairs school hall at St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, 201 E. Main St., Uniontown. The event will feature crafts, cookbooks, candy, baked goods, crafts decorations and imported items. The Ethnic Craft Club sponsors the event. Proceeds will benefit the church. The 24th annual Holiday Treasures Art Show and Sale will take place today through Sunday at the earth-sheltered home of Scott and Barbara Campbell on the Grindstone Road, one mile from the intersection of routes 40 and 166. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. There is free admission and free parking.

The Greater Scottdale Area Choral Society is busy preparing the music for its 2006 Christmas Concert Series. Under the direction of Dwight Brown and accompanied by Sue Booher, the chorus will perform a four-concert series, incorporating sacred and secular music in honor of the holidays. The first concert will be performed Monday at the Church of God in Mount Pleasant. The next three performances will be as follows: Saturday, Perryopolis United Methodist Church; Sunday, St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Scottdale; and Monday, at Cochran Memorial United Methodist Church, Dawson. All concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. The public is invited.

Country music will be presented on Saturday at the Sagebrush Round-Up on Bunner Ridge near Fairmont, W.Va. The open stage from 6 to 7 p.m. will be backed by the house band, The Round-Up Band. Following the opening stage, The Round-Up Band, Ray Hileman & The Wheels of Country and Hickory Wind will perform. The Sagebrush Round-Up is located on Bunner Ridge near Fairmont, W.Va., six miles east of Interstate 79 at Exit 139. The Old Petersburg-Addison Historical Society Inc. will hold the annual Christmas House Tours from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. This will be a candlelight tour. The hour will feature the historic Stagecoach Stop, the Mitchell Tavern, the Ahlbrant House, the Abram Augustine Bed & Breakfast, the Hartzell House Bed and Breakfast, the historic Brooke House with nearly decorated Tavern Room and the Frederich Augustine Welcoming Center/History House. There is a cost for tickets. Children 6 and younger will be admitted free. Tickets are available at the Frederick Augustine Welcoming Center/History House on days of the tours. Hoedown, round and square dancing, slow dancing, polkas, line dancing and clogging will be take from 7 to 10 p.m. today at the Waynesburg Moose in Waynesburg. There is a donation for each person. Dave Dahl will provide music and figure calling.
