Five different DVDs arrive in stores

Five decidedly different offerings – an animated romp (“Barnyard: The Original Party Animals”), a comedy smash (“The Devil Wears Prada”), a tween tale (“Material Girls”), a NASCAR spoof (“Talladega Nights: The Legend of Ricky Bobby – Unrated and Uncut!”) and a factual drama (“World Trade Center”) -are landing in DVD outlets for this Hanukkah weekend. The top DVD rental and sales titles are:

Best Renters

1. “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby – Unrated and Uncut!” (Unrated and PG-13); Grade: B; with Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen in a colorful NASCAR spoof about a longtime champion suddenly having doubts about his driving skills.

2. “The Devil Wears Prada” (PG-13) B; with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in a comedy about a young professional with no sense of style who takes a job working for a powerful fashion-magazine editor.

3. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” (PG-13); Grade: B; with Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom in a swashbuckling sequel in which loyalties change, old characters return and pirate-ghosts plunder.

4. “Barnyard: The Original Party Animals” (PG); Grade: C+; with the voices of Kevin James, Courteney Cox Arquette and Wanda Sykes in a computer-animated tale about a fun-loving cow who plays tricks on humans.

5. “World Trade Center” (PG-13); Grade: B+; with Nicolas Cage, Michael Pena, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Maria Bello in director Oliver Stone’s drama based on the true story of two Port Authority police officers trapped under tons of debris on Sept. 11, 2001.

6. “Superman Returns” (PG-13); Grade: A-; with Brandon Routh as the Man of Steel in this impressive fantasy that has the Krypton native saving the world and getting in touch with his emotional side.

7. “The Da Vinci Code” (PG-13); Grade: B-; with Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou in director Ron Howard’s cumbersome adaptation of Dan Brown’s wildly popular best seller about a scholar discovering a religious cover-up.

8. “Miami Vice: Unrated Director’s Edition” (Unrated and R); Grade: B; with Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell in director Michael Mann’s intense $135 million adaptation of the stylish TV series about two rugged undercover agents.

9. “Idlewild” (R); Grade: B; with Andre Benjamin and Big Boi in a stylish picture that blends music and action and is set in the South during the prohibition era.

10. “Ice Age: The Meltdown” (PG); Grade: B; with the voices of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary and Queen Latifah in the computer-animated smash about prehistoric creatures seeking a cooler climate.

11. “Material Girls” (PG); Grade: C+; with sisters Hilary and Haylie Duff in a tween comedy about two rich heiresses who find themselves suddenly poor and forced to get jobs.

12. “Pulse” (Unrated and PG-13); Grade: C; with Kristen Bell in a chiller about an Internet portal that allows the dead to attack the living.

13. “Clerks II” (R); Grade: B+; with Kevin Smith writing and directing a surprisingly heartfelt sequel to his slacker favorite about two buddies reluctant to step out into the adult world.

14. “You, Me and Dupree” (PG-13); Grade: B-; with Owen Wilson, Kate Hudson and Matt Dillon in a romantic comedy about a single guy who moves in with a newlywed couple and then won’t leave.

15. “Cars” (G); Grade: B+; with the voices of Paul Newman, Owen Wilson and Bonnie Hunt in a computer-animated tale about a self-absorbed high-performance vehicle that learns the importance of helping and respecting others.

16. “John Tucker Must Die” (PG-13); Grade: B-; with Jesse Metcalfe in a teen comedy about a handsome star athlete who dates three girls at the same time and then faces their revenge.

17. “How to Eat Fried Worms” (PG) Grade: B; with Luke Benward in a family film about a fifth grader who is targeted by a school bully and dared to eat 10 creepy crawlers in one day.

18. “Beerfest: Completely, Totally Unrated” (Unrated and R); Grade: B; with the Broken Lizard comedy troupe in an outrageous comedy about a “Fight Club”-like tournament that involves guzzling suds, not punching faces.

19. “The Ant Bully” (PG); Grade: C+; with the voices of Nicolas Cage, Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep in a mildly entertaining computer-animated tale about a cruel little boy who learns a lesson about destroying innocent creatures.

20. “Mission: Impossible III” (PG-13); Grade: B+; with Tom Cruise in the action-packed third installment that has his character declaring war on a vicious arms dealer (Philip Seymour Hoffman).
