Happy Ending, a local rock band, will play at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at Al’s Pub near the Fayette County Fairgrounds and at 9 p.m. Sunday at the Eagles Nest on Morgantown Street in Uniontown.

Lights on the Mountain by Woodland Zoo, featuring a unique display of Christmas lights, will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday at the Woodland Zoo, located off Route 40 in Farmington. The displays were built and designed by Fayette Area Vocational-Technical students. The display will feature live reindeer and a bonfire, featuring roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate. The gift shop, featuring Christmas trees, wreaths and grave pillows, will be open. Food will be available. The lights will be open weather permitting. Proceeds from donations will benefit the Herald-Standard’s Give-A-Christmas campaign to raise money for the Salvation Army and Woodland Zoo animals. For more information, call 724-329-8664.

A New Year’s Eve Celebration Dinner Dance featuring square dancing plus ballroom dancing and polkas will be held at 11:30 p.m. today at the Bullskin Senior Center on Route 982 near Connellsville. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. There is a cost for each person. Dinner will be served at 11:30 a.m. followed by the dance from 1 to 3 p.m. Dave Dahl will provide music and figure calling.

“Facing the Giants,” a feature film that mixes the action of football with a lesson in faith, will be shown free to the public at 7 p.m. today and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday at the State Theatre Center for the Arts, located at 28 E. Main St., Uniontown. A David-and-Goliath tale, the film tells the story of a high school football coach who uses his undying faith to battle the giants of fear and failure. Admission is free.

A New Year’s Eve Dinner & Show will be held on Sunday at the Sagebrush Round-Up located near Fairmont, W.Va. The Safe & Sane Way will play country music. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. An open stage will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. The main show will take place at 8 p.m. The menu will feature ham or chicken, potatoes/gravy, green beans, tossed salad, bread, dessert and drinks. A New Year’s Eve dance will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight at Bopark Senior Center, 1837 Listravia Ave., Sabraton, W.Va. The dance will feature square dancing and ballroom dancing, line dancing by Dennis and music and figure calling by Dave Dahl. There is a cost for each person. Coffee and punch will be served. Those attending are asked to bring their own snacks.
