Granny Crab
Our Crabby had an unusual experience last week. She got to visit with her grandson, Zac Maxson for the first time in three years. Zac is 11 and not a cheap date. First they took the short tour of Perryopolis and then went to lunch at Randall’s.
The folks at Perry Floral suggested a short trip to Smithton where Zac and Crabby Grandma visited Critter Country. Zac and Granny were very surprised to find this little animal farm just outside Smithton. Who knew it was even there? The owners charge a small admission to let you see their menagerie, which includes a sloth, two camels, a zebra, some reindeer, alpacas, lemurs, porcupines, an ostrich, two emus, and a few other exotic creatures along with the usual assortment of goats, chickens, turkeys, bunnies and a ferret. There are even two large tortoises, one of which is constantly trying to make his “Great Escape.” To visit Critter Company’s Web site, type in www.crittercountryanimalfarm.com
Zac and Crabby went back to the Crab home where Zac played PlayStation all afternoon and then visited Jesse Ferguson and tried out his X-Box 360. The evening ended with a trip to Kmart to buy Zac his favorite Yu-Gi-Oh card pack. Zac said he had a great time with his Crabby Granny and he wants to do it again later this summer before he returns to Texas. Lunch at Randall’s, $13; trip to Critter Country, $9; Yu-Gi-Oh cards, $19; 10 hours with your only grandchild – priceless.
