2 min read

Eleven-year-old Carson McCann, son of Marian and Fred McCann of Hopwood, continues his success in acting and modeling in Pittsburgh and New York City. Recently, Carson, who has three older brothers, Josh, Evan and Brody, was featured in a Pittsburgh story on his success in a field where fierce competition abounds.

His long resume of casting in television and print work, since the age of 5, led Carson to New York City with a contract and a manager, according to a recent press release.

Currently, Carson can be seen in nationwide ads for Dick’s sporting goods, beginning on Sunday. These supplements will appear in newspapers all over the U.S. He will be advertising soccer equipment. Carson will again be featured on Aug. 6 for backpacks. He will continue appearing in ads throughout the winter.

He also was cast as a principal in a TAP college fund commercial that has been airing on CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX and UPN. It will run for a year and usually airs during the 11 p.m. CBS news. The commercial begins with a professor writing on a chalkboard. Carson is easy to spot because of his red hair, his mother said.

Carson also will appear in ads for Sheel’s Sporting in the Midwest, which will cover eight states. These are back-to-school ads.

He also landed a job with publishers McGraw-Hill. In 2007 when fifth-grade science teachers open their books, they will see Carson doing experiments.

Carson has worked for Sears this year in nationwide ads divided by the north and the south because of climate. He appears in both winter and summer clothing.

Since his career began, Carson has been cast as a principal in many commercials. Three of them were for PNC Bank. He was a cast member for a PBS television show titled “The Magic Woods,” which was affiliated with “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood.”

Carson also has been seen on billboards for Blue Cross, Rite-Aid in store displays for suntan lotions, Yacht brochures, Children’s Palace and Kmart advertising swing sets. Kaufmann’s made Carson a familiar face in 13 catalogs in one year. He also has done radio commercials for Toys R Us. A student in the Laurel Highlands School District, Carson plays baseball for Hutchinson Area Recreation Center (HARC).
