Brownsville to present circus musical
BROWNSVILLE – The Brownsville Area High School Drama Department will present the circus musical extravaganza, “BARNUM,” at 7 p.m. today and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday in the high school auditorium. Leading the cast as P.T. Barnum is senior Andrew Basile. Playing his wife, Chairy Barnum, is Kristen Tunney.
Supporting players are Jordan Sealy as the Ringmaster, Michael Copeland as Mr. Bailey, Taylor Williams as Jenny Lind (The Swedish Nightingale), Kayla Quarrick as Joice Heath (the oldest woman in the world, Jason Schmotzer as Tom Thumb (only 24 inches from toe to crown) and Sarah Mathianas at the blues singer.
Other actors include Chester Lyman, D.J. May; Amelia Scudder, owner of the American Museum, Ashley Turner; Sherwood Stratton, Tom Thumb’s father, David Fisher; Mrs. Sherwood Stratton, Tom Thumb’s mother, Brittany Shupe; and Miss Wilson, Bethany Jurczyk.
The ensemble, featuring tumblers, jugglers, clowns, aerialists, acrobats, gymnasts, bricklayers, passersby, museum patrons, strongmen, beefeaters, the “mob” in general, the Bridgeport pageant choir and bands, include Russell Petrosky, Kelsey Despot, Samantha Bochna, Erin Ryan, Ferrell Jellots, Charla Hiles, Jacob Knisley, Rebecca Marucci, Heather Kerestine, Jenna Bayne, Ashley Santore, Nicole Kerestine, Andrew Carp, Brittany Shupe, Alexis Arnold, Chelsea Petrosky, Ashley Malec, Raelene Sheridan, Jessica Smith, Aleesha Dorsey, Rhonda Hormel, Aaron Hormel and Cassie Emery.
“BARNUM” is directed by Tricia Rohlf. She is assisted by her husband and fellow actor, Michael Rohlf. Debra Mascia provides music director. Orchestra director is her husband, Robert Mascia. Julianne Sobek, a graduate of Brownsville Area High School and California University of Pennsylvania, is the choreographer. Hollie Glumac is the producer. Diana Michael is costume designer.
Debra Rice is the properties mistress. Ernest Watson is stage manager and technical director. He is assisted by Rob Ross.
A spaghetti dinner will be held prior to the Sunday afternoon matinee performance, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
There will be a cost for the dinner.
Members of the Golden Falcon Club will receive a free ticket to the dinner.
