1 min read

The Downtown Business District Authority is planning a car cruise in conjunction with the National Road Festival on Saturday, May 20. Car registration will be held at 11:30 p.m. with the car cruise beginning at noon and continuing until 4 p.m.

Dash plaques will be given to the first 50 cars. Local D.J. Arnie Amber will be spinning tunes. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase. A Chinese auction will be held along with a 50/50 drawing. There is a registration fee.

The wagon train will travel through Uniontown at approximately 2:30 p.m. with a ceremony held at Marshall Plaza, located near the VFW on Main Street.

The city of Uniontown is celebrating the occasion of the 2006 National Road Festival, which is the 33rd anniversary of tracing the pioneer route along the National Pike.

The First National Road or Pike, which is now known as Route 40, carried travelers from the nation’s capital to the west.

For 33 years, the festival’s unique commemoration of traveling this historic route stands as a tribute to the brave pathfinders who helped to forge the future of the nation and as a reminder of the important role that Uniontown played as a primary gateway to the west.
