Programs slated OHIOPYLE – Ohiopyle State Park will offer the following interpretive programs this weekend:
Today
– 8 to 9:30 p.m., French and Indian War, Kentuck Campground Amphitheater. This year marks the 250th anniversary of the war. Park rangers will talk about Ohiopyle’s role in this war.
Saturday
– 10 a.m. to noon, Frog Hunt, Kentuck Campground Amphitheater. Participants will meet at the amphitheater to discuss the plan to attack and then head to the pond to catch frogs.
– 8:30 to 10 p.m., Bats, Kentuck Campground Amphitheater. Participants will learn about bats. They will enjoy a “bat-like” activity and then watch a video about bats.
Sunday
– 10 a.m. to noon, The Plants of Ferncliff, train station. Ferncliff has been designated as a National Natural Landmark because of its unique plant life. Participants will learn about these species.
– 7 to 8:30 p.m., Furs, Kentuck Campground Amphitheater. Mammals play a key role in the Ohiopyle ecosystem. Participants will look at mammals’ fur.
Concerts set
CONNELLSVILLE – The Connellsville Lions Club will once again host a free summer concert series at Lions Square in downtown Connellsville beginning June 4.
All concerts begin at 7 p.m.

Two new groups include:
– June 4, Free Spirit, a gospel group.
– June 25, Girlz in Black Hats, a new country group featuring the fiddle.
The series will continue as follows:
– July 9, High Ryder, a local country group.
– July 23, Punch, a popular oldies band.
– Aug. 6, Jake Zelmore and the Traveling Road Show, another old favorite that features the fiddle.
– Aug. 20, Harold Betters, famous local jazz musician.
Those planning to attend are asked to bring lawn chairs. Refreshments will be available.
