German Oktoberfest slated

FARMINGTON – An authentic German Oktoberfest will take place Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at the Woodland Zoo and Herald-Standard Pavilion near Farmington. The event will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 29, noon to 10 p.m. Sept. 30 and noon to 8 p.m. Oct. 1.

The Augsburg German Band will perform during the event. The Bruderholf Mannerchor will present German folk songs from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 30.

The event will feature chainsaw caving, food booths, grape stomping, beer belly contests, fun and games, crafts, face painting, the Mad Bavarian and authentic German food. Warsteiner German beer and wine tasting by Christian W. Klay Winery in Chalk Hill will be offered.
