Here are this week’s stories:

My dog Skout

Austin Pegg

Smithfield

I have a very special English Setter and his name is Skout. We got him from my dad’s friend, Chris Dugan in Greene County. He is tri-colored, which means he is white with black and brown spots. When he was a puppy, he was just plain white, but as he got older, he became more colorful.

We have trained him to hunt grouse, pheasants and chuckers. Last year alone, he pointed all 19 birds we hunted, and we shot them all. I love him and he is my special hunting dog.

Butterflies up in the sky

Katie Bailey

Uniontown

Butterflies up in the sky,

Up, up, up, flying high,

To the place where it belongs,

The butterfly is graceful like a beautiful song,

Everywhere, to and fro.

Round and round, watch it go,

Finding a place to rest for night,

Little butterflies are such a beautiful sight,

Look around, butterflies are left and right.

Ever since I was little

Briann Cramer

Uniontown

Ever since I was a little girl, I loved to sing. But one of my obstacles is that I’m afraid to sing in front of people.

Although I’m afraid to sing in front to people I just have to push the fear away and sing. I’ve sung in plays before, but I still was nervous. People tell me I’m good, but if I sing in front of my friends I feel that I am showing off, and I hate to do that.

My grandmother taught me how to sing, because when I was a little girl she sang in front of me all the time so I sang with her. My grandmother’s dream was to sing, but for some reason she didn’t. She wanted to follow her dreams, but she had a lot going on at the time. So now it’s like I’m kind of living through her, but I’m doing what I want to do.

I just started chorus, and I’m already loving it because I get to hang out with my friends and I get to do something that I love to do.

My grandmother still teaches me how to sing and if I’m doing something wrong she helps me correct it. I hope one day I can follow my dreams and be a famous singer.

Fall time

Erika Marie Fazenbaker

Uniontown

Fall time is fun because you get to jump in leaves and go trick or treating. That is why I like Fall.

9/11

Brittani Kiger

Smithfield

We all remember the flight that went down because of the terrorist named Bin Laden five years ago which wrecked into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Two planes wrecked into the Twin Towers in New York. Another plane wrecked in Shanksville, Somerset County. It was a very tragic moment. All I hope is that they catch Bin Laden some day.

Geauga Lake

Josh Remington

Uniontown

On Monday, Aug 14 we went to go to Geauga Lake. We had to get up at 4 a.m. We left Uniontown at 5:30 a.m. When we got there, we walked in the kiddy park. After that we went to lunch.

After lunch we went swimming. First we went down water slides then we went in the wave pool. In the middle of swimming it started to rain. As soon as we got out, it stopped. So we went to see a lumberjack show. Dad would have loved that. But he was at work. Mom even said he’d love it. We didn’t finish that either. So we went to eat dinner then we went home after that. That was a long day! But it was worth it. And that’s what I did this summer.
