Group to offer genealogy workshops
GREENSBURG – The Westmoreland County Historical Society will offer several afternoon workshops for those who are interested in brushing up their genealogy research skills. Each two-hour program will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the society’s library at 41 W. Otterman St., Suite 301, Greensburg.
“Deeds: Tracing the History of Property and People” will be held Monday, Feb. 26. Along with identifying the chain of title, deeds also can reveal surprising tidbits of information about those who once owned the property. On Monday, March 12, the session titled “This, My Last Will and Testament” will discuss the wide variety of information that can be discovered about individuals and families, in wills and other related documents used in estate settlements. The third workshop titled “Getting Around the Stumbling Blocks of Genealogical Research” is designed to give those involved with genealogical research the opportunity to discuss specific problems with their work with the society researcher.
