New grandson
Carol Hamilla plans to visit her new grandson, Jason Thomas Millard, in Los Angeles, Calif. Jason was born Feb. 4. His parents are Alison and Andrew Hamilla.

– March 3 – Star Junction Fish and Game Club will hold a cash and gun bash at the Perry Auto Auction. Doors open at 5 p.m., bash runs from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $20 with two numbers. Price for a guest is $10. For further information, contact the gun club.
– March 4 – Spaghetti dinner at the Sons of Italy from 1 to 4 p.m. to benefit the Sons of Italy 730’s Youth Bowlers. Cost is $6 for adults; $3 for children under 10. Take-outs will be available. Bring own containers.

– Fish sandwiches from St. John Church will be available every Friday during Lent from noon until 6 p.m. There will be no sandwiches on Good Friday, Apr. 6.
– Waste Management is the official waste agency for the borough. Cost is $9.42 a month or $113.04 a year for unlimited bags and one bulk item a week. There should be no additional charges. Anyone with questions may call 724-736-4441.

First Christian Church
The Ecumenical Lenten worship and luncheon schedule services start at noon Wednesday. A free-will offering is collected. The service will be held at the Perryopolis United Methodist Church. The Rev. Michael Malone will deliver the message.
The kitchen needs donations of ground regular or decaf coffee.
The WOW corner is in need of magazines with colorful pictures for the kids to cut out and make crafts. Please see Laurie Malone if you wish to donate.
Lenten Bible Study will begin on March 4 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center. The subject will be prayer.
Michael Pawluk will offer a piano concert in the sanctuary on March 17 at 7 p.m. The concert is open to the public and a free-will offering will be taken to benefit the Habitat Mission trip to Slidell, La. Vicky Phillips and Meghan and Jim Johnson will also perform.

If you would like to volunteer to be on the rotating schedule for Sunday morning bus driver to pick up people for the 10:30 a.m. service, see Laurie Malone. The driver would also be responsible for taking parishioners home after the service.
Girls softball
Perryopolis girl’s softball will have a late registration sign up on Saturday at the borough building noon to 2 p.m.
New eatery
A new local business has opened in town, The Liberty St. Caf?, located at 109 Liberty St.
Mary Secrest, owner, is inviting everyone to stop in and relax with a warm drink or delicious bowl of soup during this cold weather.
The new caf? serves bagels, muffins, pastries, soups, sandwiches, side dishes and specialty desserts. They have New England brand coffees, hot chocolate, cappuccino and cold drinks as well. A different soup is offered every day and homemade specials are also available. Diners can eat-in or call for a take-out.
The caf? is open Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The phone number is 724-736-8370.
Easter roll sale
The Smock Historical Society’s annual Easter rolls sale features nut, apricot, prune and poppyseed rolls, not sesame seed rolls as reported previously.
The rolls are $7 each and orders must be placed by March 17. Pick-up is at the Smock Community Center on March 24 from noon to 1 p.m. To order or for more information, call 724-677-2415.
Library
The Frazier Community Library has Pennsylvania tax forms available. The community hours, are Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:50 to 8 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 2:50 to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Please note the library does not have federal tax forms.
