Jan. 21, 2007 Calendar party
The Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will hold a calendar party on April 14 at 3 p.m. Admission tickets are $7 and include a meal and refreshments.
Activities will also include a Chinese auction and a 50/50 drawing.

Christian Unity Service
The churches of Masontown and McClellandtown, under the banner of the Klondike Clergy Association, will host a service to celebrate Christian Unity today at 4 p.m. at the Masontown Brethren Church, 110 W. Church Ave.
The Rev. Bob Lewis, pastor of the Masontown United Methodist Church, is the guest preacher. His sermon is titled “The Church is God’s Movement of Righteousness.”
As well as celebrating Christian Unity, the churches will honor the life and ministry of the late Martin Luther King Jr. Food and fellowship will follow the service.

Church activities
Members of the First Presbyterian Church of Masontown hold worship on Sunday morning at 11. The pastor this week is the Rev. John Morrow. The church is located at 102 W. Church Ave., in Masontown.
Elders will be ordained and installed this week.
Following worship, the annual congregational meeting will be followed by a soup and sandwich lunch.
Under the direction of Robin Carr, the choir will lead the morning hymns.
The greeter this month is Beverly Short. Ushers are Frank Martin, David Martin, Arnold Koon and Peter Sisko.
Community Kitchen
The Masontown Community Kitchen will serve a bimonthly meal on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Masontown First Presbyterian Church, 102 W. Church Ave., Masontown.
Chief Dan Noland promises an excellent meal, which featuring salmon loaf, rice, corn and salad along with Panera breads, homemade desserts and beverages.
The public is invited to enjoy a hot meal or just a cup of coffee and to visit with friends and neighbors. There is no charge for the meal, however donations are accepted.
The volunteers and members from the various Churches and the communities of Masontown, McClellandtown and Leckrone provide hospitality and fellowship.
The last Community Kitchen was held on Jan. 9 with 125 meals served.
The Community Kitchen staff expresses gratitude to all contributors.
Recently, a 20-gallon soup pot was donated by Jeff May, owner of the Titlow Tavern in Uniontown. The Masontown Exchange Club, always helping the community, presented a $500 contribution for food and supplies.
“It is tremendous to see the endorsement by so many local people and clubs,” said a kitchen worker.
The Community Kitchen is in its 11th month of operation.

Health screening
The Masontown Rotary Club is sponsoring its annual Health Awareness Screening at the Masontown Volunteer Fire Department, 221 N. Washington St. in Masontown on Jan. 27 from 7 to 10 a.m.
The Multiphasic Blood Test includes Lipid Profile, consisting of 39 tests.
Cost is $39.

Cash Bash
All Saints Parish will host a Cash Bash and game night on Feb. 10 at the parish social hall in Masontown. Doors open at 6 p.m.; cash drawings take place every 15 minutes, beginning at 7 p.m., with the final drawing at 10 p.m.
Admission is $20 and includes a buffet dinner and refreshments.

Valentine dance
The Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will hold a Valentine’s dance on Feb. 10 from 7 p.m. to midnight.
A Step Above DJ Entertainment will provide music. Food, drinks and door prizes are included in the $20 ticket for couples or $10 for individual tickets.

Craft show
The Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will hold a craft show on March 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the fire hall.
Craft vendors may reserve tables by contacting Renee Dillow at 724-564-0136. Table cost is $20 for the first 8-foot table and $10 for each additional table. Vendors may set up on March 23 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Registration deadline is March 10.
