Benefit to raise money for Lancaster family

2 min read

A benefit concert to raise money for the David “Puff” Lancaster Memorial Fund will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10, which was “Puff’s” birthday, at White Tavern on Route 51 north of Uniontown. The doors will open at 2 p.m. for anyone over age 21. The event will feature all-day entertainment and a free buffet. All proceeds are to help out the Lancaster family with Puff’s expenses and to help take care of his three young children.

Sonia Minghi, event organizer, said there have been no arrests made at this time, and this tragedy has brought about a tremendous financial burden to the Lancaster family. “Puff” was shot and killed on Dec. 3, 2006, at the age of 29. “Puff,” as his friends knew him, was a dedicated father to his children and a very talented bass player, according to Minghi.

“David ‘Puff’ Lancaster’s life was brought to a violent end,” Minghi said. “‘Puff’ (as his friends knew him) was well liked and will be sadly missed. David was a loving father who left behind three young children (ages 11, 8 and 5). He was an accomplished musician who spent several years as the bass player for Red Rum and also was a member of both In Vein and Skin-n-Bonez.

“As a result of this tragedy, his family has been left with the burden of many final expenses,” she added. “I am organizing a memorial/fundraiser (which will include a concert, free buffet and various giveaways throughout the night) to assist his family in their time of need.”

Included in the performance line-up for “Puffalooza” are:

– Red Rum

– Pivot

– Chastity

– Blacklist

– Blacktooth Grin

– Hillbilly Review

The event will feature a special appearance by Skin-n-Bonez and also a couple of surprise appearances to be announced. Tickets are available at White Tavern, from all participating band members or by calling 724-557-5187.

Minghi made a formal request for donations for the following items: advertising; food for the buffet; giveaway items, including T-shirts, hats, gift certificates, etc.

Monetary donations also are being accepted. Please make checks or money orders payable to David “Puff” Lancaster Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 173, Addison, Pa. 15411.

Anyone who has any questions about the event is asked to call Minghi at 724-557-5187.
