Keana Bertocci, Kevin Franks, Gary Humbert, Helen Calcagni and Shelley Bertocci celebrate their birthdays today. Reminders

– State tax forms are available at Frazier Community Library during community hours: Monday and Wednesday, 2:50 to 8 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 2:50 to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Library does not have Federal tax forms.

– Today, a spaghetti dinner at the Sons of Italy is from 1 to 4 p.m. to benefit the Sons of Italy 730 Youth Bowlers. Dinners are $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10. Take-outs will be available, bring containers.

– Today, “Bunco” event at the Frazier Library. Call 724-736-8480 for tickets.

– Fish sandwiches from St. John Church are available every Friday during Lent from noon until 6 p.m. There will be no sandwiches sold on Good Friday, April 6.

– Smock Historical Society is selling nut, apricot, prune and poppyseed rolls at $7 each. They must be ordered by March 17. Pick-up is at the Smock Community Center on March 24 from noon to 1 p.m. Call 724-677-2415.

– March 17, Michael Pawluk piano concert at the First Christian Church at 7 p.m. Vicky Phillips and Meghan and Jim Johnson will also perform. It is open to the public. A free-will offering will benefit Habitat Mission trip.

– Waste Management is the official waste agency for the borough. Cost is $9.42 a month or $113.04 a year for unlimited bags and one bulk item a week. There should be no additional charges. Questions, call 724-736-4441.

Correction

Carol Hamilla recently traveled to Los Angeles to visit with her new grandson, Jason Thomas Millard. Jason’s parents are Alison and Andrew Millard, not Hamilla. When sending in news, please remember that Ruthie needs complete and detailed instructions.

Steelers benefit Gabby

Gabby Muzina received a bone marrow transplant from her brother and is doing very well. A final fund-raiser to defray her medical costs will be held at the Belle Vernon High School gymnasium on April 12 at 8 p.m.

Some of the Pittsburgh Steelers (whoever is available that day) will play basketball against Gabby’s Globetrotters. Autograph signing by the Steelers will take place at half time. The fund-raiser will include a Chinese auction and 50-50 tickets and possibly other events. Tickets are $7 a person and are available at All That Glitters on Liberty Street and Great Dane Realty in the Shops on the Square on Independence Street.

Anniversary

The Little Redstone Methodist Church on Redstone Church Road, Fayette City, will celebrate its 150th anniversary over the next coming months. The special day of celebration will be Sept. 30 with a service and a dinner followed by an afternoon of music and celebration.

Anyone with photos, items that may be displayed or stories about the church are asked to contact Ruth Osborne at 724-736-0495 so that the items may be borrowed for display.

Ecumenical services

The Ecumenical Lenten worship and luncheon schedule services start at noon on Wednesdays. A free-will offering is collected. Wednesday’s luncheon will be held at the Harmony Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mike Long serving as the speaker.

First Christian Church

The kitchen needs donations of ground regular or decaf coffee.

The WOW corner is in need of magazines with colorful pictures for the kids to cut out and make crafts. Please see Laurie Malone if you wish to donate.

Lenten Bible Study begins this evening from 7 to 8:30 in the Family Life Center. The subject will be prayer.

The church is producing a cookbook of favorite recipes from the friends and neighbors of the church. The cookbook will be available later this spring.

The Little Redstone Church holds Sunday School every Sunday morning at 10:15 with Jim Osborne officiating. Church services are at 11:30 with Rev. Robert Moffat offering the message. Everyone is welcomed to come and visit.

The Redstone Parish Choir is preparing a Cantata for Easter. The Redstone Parish includes Little Redstone, Newell and Star Junction Methodist churches.

Altar Society news

The St. John’s Altar Society of Perryopolis will receive communion together this month on March 18 at the 8:30 a.m. Mass.

The rosary will be recited at 7:45 a.m. The lectors for this Mass are Sue Daniels and Carol Coldren.

Members of St. John’s Altar Society of Perryopolis will meet on March 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the social center. Members on the social committee are Karen Adams, Joyce Lynch, Cindy Fenyar, Diane Maolini, Jo Polacheck, Peggy Layton and Marie Galla.

The St. John’s Altar Society of Perryopolis is selling fish sandwiches and pirohi Fridays from noon to 6 p.m. during Lent except on Good Friday. To place orders, call 724-736-2936, or 724-736-4032. On Friday only call 724-736-0205.

Cash Bash

The Perry Township VFD will hold a Cash Bash on April 14 at the auto auction. Doors open at 5 p.m. and at 10 p.m. the grand prize of $10,000 will be pulled. Tickets are $25 and are available from firefighters. The bash benefits both the Perry Township VFD and the Belle Vernon VFD.

Pysanky open house

A display of eggs created by pysanky artists and students from the local area will be held at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church Social Hall, Perryopolis, on March 18 from noon to 3 p.m. Admission is free. Come be fascinated by the designs, details and colors that have been used to decorate the simple egg.

For a $1 fee and with guidance, participants can decorate an egg and take it with them. Decorated Easter eggs will also be sold. Some pysanky supplies will be available. Beverages and cookies will be for sale. For more information call Lois at 724-736-4039 or Dolores at 724-736-2756.

Flower Club

The March meeting of the Perryopolis Flower Club has been canceled due to the Lenten events being held at the Christian Church Family Life Center.
