Flatwoods to being its spring season
FLATWOODS – Flatwoods Productions announced the first shows it will be presenting as part of its spring 2007 season. All shows are performed in the Curfew Grange, located across from the cemetery in Flatwoods. The Curfew Grange is located at the corner of Route 201 south and Buena Vista Road.
Shows are performed for three performances, two evenings at 8 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Dinner is available for an extra charge with the Saturday evening shows. Dinner theater requires a reservation. Group rates for dinner theater are also available. Tickets are available at the door for all performances. Call 724-785-6896.
The season will begin on March 16-18, with a musical revue titled “One Hundred Years of Broadway” and will feature music from the past 100 years from the early days of Broadway through Tin Pan Alley and up to the present day.
There also will be a special section devoted to the masters of musical theater – Stephen Sondheim, Rodgers and Hanmmerstein, Lerner and Loewe and Kander and Ebb. Also represented will be a selection of songs made famous by child performers through the years such as “Annie” and “Oliver!”
“Give My Regards to Broadway” and “There’s No Business Like Show Business” open the show. The early years of Tin Pan Alley are represented by selections from “Showboat,” “DuBarry was a Lady” and “Follow Thru.”
The Golden Years include selections such as “Wilkommen,” “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” “Hello Dolly!” “People,” “Try to Remember,” “The Impossible Dream” and “Seventy-six Trombones.”
Breaking New Ground is represented by the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim, with such shows as “Phantom,” “Cats,” “Company” and “Superstar.”
Contemporary Broadway is represented by “Godspell,” “Sweeney Todd,” “Big River,” “Annie,” and “La Cage a Follies.”
Bringing the audience full circle to the present will be songs from “Wicked,” “Producers, “Spamalot” and “Jersey Boys.” The show is a great two-hour retrospective of America and its gift to the world of theater – the musical. A special St. Patrick’s Day Dinner will be available at 6 p.m. March 17. The meal is available at an additional cost, and reservations are needed. Food will include a choice of either roast beef or stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, vegetable, fruit cup, rolls and butter, salad, coffee, tea or soft drink and a dessert.
