A day in the gym
Katie Smith
Smithfield School
The third nine weeks is going really well. I have gym. My teacher is Mr. V. He is really cool and I have him third period. I also have Mr. Embacher. He teaches math strategies. I have him second period.
I’m goingt to tell you what we do in gym. Before we do anything, we have to change. Then, we do exercises. Some of the exercises are running around the gym twice, push-ups, and toe touches. We usually play basketball and dodge ball. We play dodge ball a lot. When we play basketball, I don’t play games, I just shoot hoops.
In Mr. Embacher’s class we do warmup sheets. They only have five questions on them. We have homework every day except Friday. The homework sheets only have 10 questions. Mr. Embacher coaches football. His class is really cool. Mr. Embacher is really cool too. When someone has trouble with a question, he will help that person. Well I’ve told you just about everything that we do in gym and math strategies. I’m going to have to go now. Later.
PSSA tests
Brittani Kiger
Smithfield
We just finished our PSSA Tests in school. It is one of easiest tests you will take. Some questions were a bit hard. Overall, the tests were pretty easy. It was better than having regular class, though. This was the first year that the test actually counted for sixth grade.
Cousin gets married
Briana Cramer
Uniontown
On March 3, my cousin got married. My cousin’s name is Rachel and her husband is Luke. I was one of the bridesmaids in the wedding. I am realy happy that my cousin found someone she can spend the rest of her life with. Luke is one of the nicest guys that I have ever met, and I know that they are meant for each other. There wedding was the best wedding I’ve ever been two. It wasn’t too fancy and everybody had fun. After everybody ate, the people moved the tables and we danced until the reception was over.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Tanner Cavaliere
McClellandtown
I have always loved the TMNT. They are so cool. They are four turtles that have been mutated by chemical waste. Their master, who is a rat, is called Master Splinter. He knows karate and teaches it to the turtles. They grow up and they now live in the sewers so nobody can see them. Their names are Leonardo, who is the leader; Donnetello, who is the smart one; Raphael, who likes to go on his own; and Michaelangelo, who is the funny one. Those are the four turtles that protect New York from evil. Did I ever say they loved pizza? Well, they are awesome.
Delicious desert
Jordyn Jarrett
Smithfield
The most delicious dessert I tasted is pumpkin cheesecake. You can buy it at The Olive Garden. If you go to The Olive Garden to buy this dessert, it has to be between the months of October and December. I’m guessing that pumpkin cheesecake is made with such items as eggs, sugar, flour, graham cracker crust and pumpkin. The topping can include whipped cream or ice cream. Caramel topping is drizzled on each piece, too. It tastes so yummy because it feels like you just might faint if you take another bite! If you like cheesecake, you will love this. So why not visit The Olive Garden as soon as October rolls around again?
Chinese donut
Caitlyn Jacobson
Smithfield
The dessert I love would be a Chinese donut. It is my favorite because it has lots of sugar. It is also made with regular bread dough and of course, that sugar that I just told you about. When it is put together, it is then put in the oven until it is soft and brown. I get these tasty donuts at the Chinese restaurant by the Uniontown Wal-Mart.
When I get them, I usually eat five or more because they taste like candy instead of a donut. They are so soft, they feel like cotton balls. I usually only get them once a month, but it is worth the wait.
Milkshake
Luke Porupski
Smithfield
I’m going to tell you about the most delicious dessert I’ve ever tasted. That dessert was a milkshake from a Johnny Rockets’ restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee. It was located in a mall called Opry Mills. The flavor of the milkshake was Oreo. The best part of the milkshake was that it really tasted like a frozen Oreo cookie. On top of the milkshake was a huge scoop of fluffy whipped cream. It was cool because they would give you a big tin cup filled with the milkshake that you poured into a smaller cup. If you ever happen to go past a Johnny Rockets restaurant, I would highly recommend that you stop in for an Oreo cookie milkshake.
Cheesecake
Rebekah Bricker
Smithfield
I am going to tell you about the most fantastic dessert in the whole world. The most fabulous dessert in the whole world is cheesecake covered in strawberries. I ate it at the Uniontown Eat-n-Park over the summer. The strawberry juice melted on the cheesecake and they both seemed to melt in my mouth. I only get to eat it once in awhile because we don’t go to Eat-n-Park that much any more. If you ever get to taste this cheesecake, I’m sure that you’ll think it’s the best dessert in the whole world, too!
My childhood
Tracey Giffin
Uniontown
When I was a baby, I was a cutie. I had long hair and pretty blue eyes. I weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces at birth. The one who taught me how to walk was my dad. I was walking up and down the stairs early. But one time when I was walking down the basement steps, I fell down the stairs and hit my head — and it hurt really bad.
Things I like about spring
Whitney Ptak
Brownsville
The things I like about spring is the weather and the sounds. I could go on and on about but the weather.
The thing I like the most about the weather is that when it is sunny or bright you get a flow and it is so beautiful. When it rains it is so amazing it looks like you are under a waterfall. The sounds of the birds chirping in the morning are so lovely to hear. In the afternoon you see the squirrels. This is why spring is so peaceful and loving and like a meadow.
That is what I like about spring.
Spring fun
Katie Joseph
Smithfield
Hey! Katie here. I like spring because it is really warm (but sometimes cold). I like when it’s warm because you can wear shorts, T-shirts and sandals. I also like to go outside a lot. I can go outside to have peace and quiet, get away from my two weird, really annoying brothers, and to go for walks with my mom.
I can also go places and you don’t have to worry about school delays, school cancellations or getting cold. Spring is also the time for Easter.
And Easter means a lot of candy. My favorite kind of candy is milk chocolate.
I like chocolate because it gets me crazy. I love to make chocolate mike by melting chocolate, and putting it into the white milk, and then stirring it when it’s really hot. I like to get vanilla ice cream, put chopped up bananas on top, put chocolate chips on the ice cream, and then putting chocolate syrup all over the ice cream.
The best part is that my brother just bought a basketball hoop and I can practice playing because I am gonna try out for basketball next year. He and I play almost every day. This is my favorite part about spring. I gotta go now. See ya.
I like school
Tracey Giffin
Uniontown
My name is Tracey Giffin; I am 10 years old. I go to R.W. Clark School. I am in fifth grade. I like school. When I come home, I like to go outside and ride my bike. Then, I come in and help my Aunt Mirtie around the house. I do the dishes, dust the room and run the sweeper. After that, I like to help her with anything. I live with my dad, my uncle, my aunt and my three brothers. I have a lot of friends. But my best friends are Marrisa and Erica.
