Big Bedtime Story and Concert set at historic Nemacolin Castle
BROWNSVILLE – Children and their families are invited to Music & Reading on the Mon’s free Big Bedtime Story and Concert, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1, at the historic Nemacolin Castle in Brownsville. The event celebrates story time and the adventures that can be experienced through reading.
The concert brings together stories, music and magic for the entire family.
Kweilin Nassar, one of Pittsburgh’s leading personalities and a Fayette County native, will lead the audience through the enchanted evening.
Special guest readers, including staff from the Herald-Standard’s Newspaper In Education (NIE) program, will present a story where they become “ace” reporters and “Cinderella” comes right out of her own story.
There will be free books for the kids and prizes. Mike and cookies will be served. Children are invited to dress in their pajamas.
The enchanting grounds of Nemacolin Castle provide the idea setting for the event. The picnic tables and large shade trees invite the audience to sit, listen and enjoy the evening.
The goal of the program is entertain and foster an appreciation for great stories and reading. The organizers hope that through the magic of music and reading, children will begin a journey to explore the world of books and to enjoy listening to and possibly playing music.The audience will hear favorite songs, and they can sing along and dance.
A nutritionist from Fayette County Community Action Agency will be available to answer questions and promote the Women, Infant and Children’s (WIC) Healthy Children Ready to Read program.
