Uniontown group plans Arts in the City festival

2 min read

The Uniontown Downtown Business District Authority is planning the fourth Arts in the City on Saturday, Sept. 8. The authority is searching for area churches or church organizations to serve as food vendors at the event, according to Judy Vrabel, director of the Downtown Business District Authority.

The committee would like for the churches to serve ethnic food.

Churches or church organizations that would like to participate at the event are asked to call Vrabel at 724-430-2926.

For the past three years, the arts festival has drawn many people into downtown Uniontown.

Along with showcasing Uniontown, the festival gives area artists and craftsmen the opportunity to share their unique talents in addition to selling their pieces of art.

The streets will be filled with strolling musicians, artists and entertainment at Storey Square, located on Main Street next to the State Theatre Center for the Arts.

Admission and entertainment to the annual event is free.

Churches, families and friends are invited to attend the event sponsored by the Downtown Business District Authority (DBDA), according to Vrabel.

The DBDA is comprised of business owner, local leaders and interested individuals who work together for the improvement of the Downtown Business District Authority.

Vrabel said the group’s most successful endeavor has been the Storey Square Summer Concert Series, which will be held every Monday during June, July and August from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A Farmer’s Market will be held on the same dates and times.

The concert is free to the public.

“Thanks to the success of the festivities held downtown since the renovations, the public has been asking for more,” Vrabel said.

“With this enthusiasm and success, many of the businesses in the Uniontown area have noticed a definite increase in traffic along Main Street in addition to the positive attitudes of the residents,” she continued.

“For this reason, we want to keep the momentum going along with another exciting and safe event in our city,” Vrabel added.
