LIGONIER – This year marks the 20th anniversary of “Antiques on the Diamond.” The antique show and sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 9, in Ligonier. The event is sponsored by the Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce and organized by Carol Craig.

There is no admission charge to the event. Dealers from six states will be set up around the Diamond, which is located at the corner of East and West Main streets. The popular semi-annual show will feature country, period furniture, quilts, pottery, glassware, china, etc. All merchandise will be for sale.

Also that day the Ligonier Hose Company No. 1 will hold its annual fireman’s auction at the firehouse, located on North Fairfield Street. And the Heritage United Methodist Church on the Diamond will offer a special luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Visitors can begin the day at the Ligonier Country Market at the west end of town, beginning at 7 a.m. They can then explore Ligonier’s 60 specialty shops, local antique shops and restaurants.

Visitors can stop by the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley, featuring rotating exhibitions of local, regional and national artists, and paperweight exhibition on permanent display.

They can visit Fort Ligonier, an impressive French & Indian War site where a young George Washington’s early military career is depicted or the Compass Inn Museum, an authentically restored 1799 stagecoach stop where they will enjoy “history with a smile” located three miles east of Ligonier.

They can spend a relaxing, carefree Saturday in the scenic town of Ligonier.
