2 min read

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A mix of blues, bluegrass and Appalachian music will resound from the hills of Chestnut Ridge Park in Bruceton Mills on Sept. 6 during a concert to benefit patients at West Virginia University’s Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center (MBRCC). The second annual Comfort Music Fest will feature headliner Stewed Mulligan, an Appalachian string band that blends old backwoods sound with country rock. Bluegrass pickers The Halftime String Band will be back along with Tanglewood, a bluegrass and blues band. The Rust Kings will perform Appalachian stomp-grass. Two-time national old-time banjo champion Vince Farsetta will complete the lineup. Gates open at 1 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling Lori Mugnano at 304-293-7495.

Tickets also are available at Black Bear Burritos on Pleasant Street in Morgantown. Tickets will be available at the gate. Children younger than 12 will be admitted free, but a donation would be appreciated. Concert T-shirts may be purchased at the event.

All proceeds will go to the Cancer Center’s Comfort Fund that was established financially to assist patients being treated at the Cancer Center Clinic.

The daylong concert also will include several food vendors and a kids’ station. Concertgoers are welcome to bring lawn chairs. For more information about WVU’s Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, visit www.hsc.wvu.edu/mbrcc/.
