‘Cars, Crafts & Kids’ set for Uniontown
The Gallatin Avenue Concerned Citizens Association (GACCA) in conjunction with the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Uniontown (RACU) will sponsor “Cars, Crafts & Kids,” a community festival, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 13 at the American Legion, 114 N. Gallatin Ave. The event will feature several activities for kids of all ages, including a car show, craft show, kids’ games, free health screenings, bingo, food and music.
Car show registration begins at 10 a.m.
There is a fee. The first 50 car owners who register will receive a free T-shirt.
Registrants also will be eligible to win one of 20 trophy plaques.
Crafters and artisans are invited to participate at a cost per space.
Table and tent rental are available at an additional cost.
“The American Legion has generously agreed to support this community effort by providing the location for the event as well as by participating in the event by holding the bingo and serving as the primary food vendor,” said Judy Vrabel, who is helping to plan the festival.
“Arnie Amber and His Dusty Platters” will provide the music for the event.
Margaret Smalley of ABC School House has agreed to coordinate all of the children’s games.
“This is just one small part of the coordinated joint effort between the RACU and GACCA to revitalize the North Gallatin Avenue neighborhood,” said Jeff McLaughlin, Elm Street manager.
In addition to Vrabel, committee members include Janet Bill, president of GACCA, Sarah Jones and Jim Beck.
The group is still looking for crafters and artisans.
The event also will include free blood pressure checks.
The Gallatin Avenue Concerned Citizens Association also is asking local businesses to donate items for the event.
Some suggestions for donations incude items such as key chains, caps, T-shirts, gift certificates and car care products and services.
The association plans to give these items away as prizes for car show participants.
Businesses will receive visual as well as verbal acknowledgement for their donations to the event.
Anyone who would like additional information about the upcoming event or businesses that want to make donations are asked to call Jeff McLaughlin at 724-438-4287 or send e-mails to gallatinelmst@dp.net.
