My favorite TV show

Jonica Pleban

McClellandtown

My favorite TV show is “American Idol.’ It is entertaining because people sing. At the beginning of the show, people audition. During the audition people can be good or funny. If they get a yellow ticket they move on and go to Hollywood. In Hollywood they are placed in groups to sing. Next they go to the big stage. This is when you can vote for your favorite and hopefully your singer could win. This is why I like “American Idol.’

My favorite TV show

For my birthday, I got a giant Flemish rabbit. I named him Paxton; he is all tan and furry and really nice. I give him carrots and lettuce all the time. He seems to enjoy them a lot. He can get to about 60 to 80 pounds, and every time he jumps, you hear thump, thump, thump.

Idlewild Park

Michael Tait

Fairchance

In my last article I have written about Kennywood Park, Now I am going to start to write about Idlewild Park in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. Idlewild was founded in 1878 from the Ligonier Valley Railroad. When the Park opened May 1, 1878, many people took picnics, and loved to watch Lake St. Clair.

In 1931, Idlewild was sold to the Idlewild management company, but in Feb. 1983 the family sold the park to the Kennywood Entertainment Company. Idlewild Park is known for it’s beauty and it has many rides, such as, the Round Up, Bumper Cars, the Scrambler, and a 1930 carousel, and many more. Idlewild has one wooden Roll O Coaster, which was build in 1938. They also have a steel coaster named the Wild Mouse which was constructed in the winter of 1993. So now you know some facts of this historical park, and don’t forget to go there this summer ’08.

Hot air ballons

Richard Archbold

Smithfield

Most hot air ballons weigh about 500 pounds. Hot air ballons heat the air by burning propane. The heat then rises to the top of the ballon and then lifts the ballon. At the top of the ballon the hot air escapes out of valves. For the hot air ballon to lift 1,000 pounds you need about 65,000 cubic feet of hot air. The envelope, which is the balloon part, is made of nylon. Nylon is used because nylon is very lightweight. You’ll be amazed of the beauty of these flying machines.

My favorite movie

Lacey Myers

Hibbs

My favorite movie is “Airbuddies.’ I love the dog, Rosebud. All her brothers are B-dogs who are all about the gym. Budder-Ball who loves food. Buda he meditates, mud-Bud he loves to play in the mud, and my favorite Rosebud, she loves to play soccer. In the movie, budder-ball jumps up on the counter and knocks the blueberry pie off the counter on the floor. Mud-Bud hates to take a bath. At the end of the movie it says Rosebud is stronger than her brothers because in the woods they ran into the woods and she stands up to him and says, “I am puffy, hear me roarrr.”

My favorite thing

Emily Rice

Leckrone

My favorite thing is sending in stories to the newspaper, I want to be a reporter when I grow up so I treat this like it’s my job. There are so many things you can write about family, friends, social events and anything else. Its very fun.
