local Mardi Gras 2008, a pre-Lenten dinner dance sponsored by the St. Therese Parish of Uniontown, will be held Jan. 26 at the Hopwood Social Hall. The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, dinner, traditional Mardi Gras complimentary gifts, fellowship and entertainment. Country music will be presented Saturday at the Sagebrush Round-Up on Bunner Ridge near Fairmont, W.Va., six miles east of Interstate 79 at Exit 139.

Middletown Country Music Show line up for tonight will feature Brad Crow and The Cutups, Ron Hunt and Your Request Band.

Chicken Pickers will perform from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight and the Davisson Brothers will play at 10 p.m. Saturday at Rhythm & Brews in Morgantown, W.Va.The 17th annual Ligonier Ice Fest is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

This year’s Ice Fest will feature more than 40 sculptures carved by DiMartino Ice Company in Jeannette.

The nationally recognized ice artist, Ernie DiMartino and his assistants, will be creating art from 300-pounds blocks of ice. The sculptures, which are sponsored by businesses and organizations, will be set up around the Diamond and throughout town. The event will be held regardless of weather conditions. The illuminated ice sculptures can be viewed 24 hours.
