“Dancing Under the Stars,” sponsored by the Perryopolis Parks and Recreation Authority, will be held at Sampey Park on Aug. 19 from 7:30-11 p.m. DJ Jim Dudas will be spinning music from the 50s to the 70s. There is an admission fee, with proceeds to benefit the restoration of the Old State Bank Building/Museum.

A “Back to School” teen dance, sponsored by the McClellandtown Volunteer Fire Co. will be held from 6-10 p.m. Aug. 20 at the fire company social hall. The event is for teens 13-16 with music and karaoke provided by DJ Git-R-Dun. There is a cost. For additional information, call 724-737-5081.

The summer concert series “Music on the Mon” hosted by The Brownsville Area Revitalization Corp. (BARC) will be held on the lawn at Nemacolin Castle, 136 Front St., Brownsville. The Tiger Maple String Band will perform Aug. 21.

The Beesontown Singers and Uniontown Clergy Association will join forces on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. when they host a memorial service commemorating the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. This special service of music and reflection, hosted by St. Peter’s Anglican Church of Uniontown, will honor the thousands of innocents who lost their lives that fateful September morning ten years ago. The memorial service is open to all who wish to attend.

The 5th annual Ohiopyle Photography Contest will be accepting submissions until Aug. 31. The still images will be put on display at the Music In The Mountains Festival, Sept. 3-4 and the public will be able to vote for their favorite. Final photography submissions will be viewed and judged by the public, park staff and members of the Friends of Ohiopyle. Prizes will be awarded for the top submissions in each category. Twelve photos will be chosen to appear in the Friends of Ohiopyle 2012 calendar. Entry forms and details are available at the park office, 724-329-8594 or at friendsofohiopyle.info.

The 13th annual Ohiopyle “Over The Falls Festival” will be held Aug. 20. Whitewater paddlers nationwide will gather there to race over the spectacular 18-foot waterfall in the picturesque mountain village of Ohiopyle. The “Hot Wheelz Classic Car, Truck and Bike Show” will be held Aug. 21 with registration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the show from noon to 4 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Institute of Health and Technology in Mt. The New Salem Presbyterian Church will sponsor its 12th annual Presby Peach Fest from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 27. Tickets will be available at the door for either a pork or ham barbecue meal or hot dog meal, including three sides, drink and the choice of peach dessert with ice cream. Bring a non-perishable food item for the food pantry and receive an extra door prize ticket. Door prizes will be drawn every 30 minutes. A bake sale will be held in front of the church during Peach Fest hours. The church is located at 27 South Mill St., New Salem. Proceeds will benefit local church mission projects. The 40th annual “Old Fashion Car Show” and Hog Roast, sponsored by the McClellandtown Volunteer Fire Co. and the Mt. Early Iron Car Club, will be held Sept. 11 at the firemen’s field in McClellandtown. This is the longest running car show in Fayette County.
