Deadline announced for grant applications

2 min read

The Community Foundation of Fayette County and Chevron have announced the deadline for grant applications to the Chevron Community Fund is Dec. 31.

The foundation and Chevron will award $50,000 to nonprofit organizations in the region.

“Chevron will be operating in the region for decades,” said Bruce Niemeyer, vice president of Chevron’s Appalachian/Michigan Business Unit. “We created the Chevron Community Fund with the mission of improving the social and economic well-being of the communities where our employees live and work.”

Although the Chevron Community Fund is based at the Community Foundation of Fayette County, the fund has a regional focus, and grant requests are considered from throughout the company’s operating area of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Requests of up to $10,000 will be considered.

Funding is focused on, but is not limited to, the following areas of social investment: basic human needs; education and training; and small and medium business enterprise development.

Chevron, which has regional offices in Uniontown and Moon Township, Allegheny County, is one of the world’s largest integrated energy companies and a leading producer of Marcellus shale in the Appalachian Basin.

“Chevron is already making a significant economic impact in the region,” said Stephen Peters, Community Foundation board chairman. “The Community Foundation is pleased to assist Chevron in supporting the needs of the community through its strategic grant-making program.”

Additional information about the Chevron Community Fund is available on the Community Foundation’s website at www.cffayettepa.org, on the foundation’s Facebook page or by calling 724-437-8600.
