‘Damn Yankees’ bring in New Year at State Theatre
The State Theatre Center for the Performing Arts in Uniontown will welcome in the New Year with the Broadway sensation “Damn Yankees,” Jan. 20.
The the musical, Joe Boyd sells his soul to the devil, Mr. Applegate, for “one good long ball hitter” for his team, the Washington Senators.
As part of the deal he becomes young baseball sensation, Joe Hardy, only to realize the true worth of the life (and wife) that he’d left at home.
With the help of a handy escape clause and a guilt-ridden temptress named Lola, can Joe outsmart the Devil, return to his former self and shepherd the Senators to the World Series? Filled with hit songs like “Whatever Lola Wants” and “You Gotta Have Heart,” “Damn Yankees” hit seven Tony Award winning home runs.
“Damn Yankees” at the State Theatre is sponsored in part through the support of 84 Lumber Co.
