Hoedown round and square dancing, polkas, line dancing, waltz and slow dancing will be held Dec. 31 for New Years Eve from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at the Alwine Civic Center. Music and figure calling by Dave Dahl Duo. A donation will be charged.
The Friday Evening Music Club of Greensburg, a group of local music teachers and performers who meet once a month to perform solo and chamber music recitals, supports music studies of the area’s young people by offering a $1,000 scholarship award for high school seniors who plan on majoring in music at an accredited college or university. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must reside in either Westmoreland or Fayette counties. Eligible students must submit a recorded audition and application by Jan. 20. Finalists will audition in person Feb. 18 at the Performing Arts Center of Seton Hill University in Greensburg. The winner will be invited to perform at a FEMC monthly recital at Pitt-Greensburg’s Campana Chapel. The first BeachBurgh Blast, for fans of beach and shag music, will be held at the Palisades in McKeesport April 13-14.
