DeRosa celebrates 100th birthday
Ralphline Jordan DeRosa of Smithfield celebrated her 100th birthday Dec. 19.
She was married to Giuseppe ( Prince) DeRosa for 47 years prior to his death in 1984.
She is the mother of three daughters, Rose Marie Shankle of Pittsburgh, Joanne Moats of Florida and Anita Porco of Texas.
In addition, she has three grandchildren, Joanne Patterson, Lori Dera and William Moats, and four great-grandchildren, Melissa, Austin, Torie and Jensen.
DeRosa grew up in Point Marion and moved to Smithfield when she and Prince started a tavern called Prince’s Inn.
She has been well known for her culinary skills and baking ability for many years and for her long tenure as the president of the Christian Mothers at St. Helen’s Church in Shoaf.
She is currently a member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Church in Fairchance.
Thanks to her current caregivers, friends and family gathered in July for a luncheon and celebration at the Senior Citizen’s Center in Smithfield. She
lives by the motto, “One day at a time.”
Her sense of humor and faith make her a blessing to those who know her, a caregiver said.
