Stutzman to speak at event
Hunter’s wild game dinner set for Monday
The annual Deer or Else hunter’s wild game dinner, sponsored by the Royal Oaks Class of Pennsville Baptist Church, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. This year’s speaker is Paul V. Stutzman, author of “Hiking Through: A personal account of his 2,200 mile hike of the Appalachian Trail.”
When he lost his wife of 32 years to breast cancer, Stutzman decided to make some big changes. He quit his job of 17 years and set out on a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail: a 2,200-mile stretch of varying terrain spanning 14 states.
During his nearly five-month hike, he battled brutal trail conditions and overwhelming loneliness, but also enjoyed spectacular scenery and trail camaraderie. With breathtaking descriptions and humorous anecdotes from his travels, Stutzman reveals how immersing himself in nature and befriending fellow hikers helped him recover from a devastating loss.
The dinner will be held in the Family Life Center of Pennsville Baptist Church. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Seating is limited so reservations through the church office are necessary by calling 724-887-5200.
