The 5th annual Ohiopyle Photography Contest will be accepting submissions until Aug. 31. The still images will be put on display at the Music In The Mountains Festival, Sept. 3-4 and the public will be able to vote for their favorite. Final photography submissions will be viewed and judged by the public, park staff and members of the Friends of Ohiopyle. Prizes will be awarded for the top submissions in each category. Twelve photos will be chosen to appear in the Friends of Ohiopyle 2012 calendar. Entry forms and details are available at the park office, 724-329-8594 or at friendsofohiopyle.info.

Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department will hold a car show fundraiser July 23 at the VFD. Registration will be at 2 p.m. with the show from 4-8 p.m. The rain date is July 30.
Auditions for East End United Community Center’s “Uniontown’s Got Talent” will be held July 30 at the State Theatre for the Performing arts in Uniontown. The live show will be held Sept. 24 at the State Theatre. For an audition application, visit the State Theatre in downtown Uniontown or the East End United Community Center at 150 Coolspring Street in Uniontown before Sunday. There is an audition fee to try out.
“A Touch of Class” Standard Flower Show presented by Great Meadows Garden Club will be held at Uniontown Mall Wednesday. The show will feature a variety of exquisite floral displays. The community is invited to enjoy this event at Uniontown Mall’s Burlington Center Court. The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the judging at 10:30 a.m. The Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania is a charitable, volunteer organization of adults and youth who share interests in gardening, civic beautification, floral design and conservation of natural resources through local clubs.

“OLIVER!,” the hit Tony Award winning musical that was one of the longest running productions on Broadway, will return to the West Virginia Public Theatre stage July 20 -24 at the Historic Metropolitan Theatre in Downtown Morgantown. Banquet Bandits presents “The Undertaker Upheaval”, an interactive mystery dinner theater show, 6:30 p.m. July 30. The California Recreation Authority invites children of all ages and their parents to participate in the first-ever Storywalk July 22 at Rotary Park from 6 to 8 p.m. At a Storywalk parents and children stroll and read a book that is attached, page by page, on a series of holders that create the opportunity for walking from post to post reading the story along the way. The project combines the benefits of physical activity, time outdoors in nature, literacy and family time. Family Friday at Historic Hanna’s Town with Judy Parker of Mainstreet Music will be presented by the Westmoreland County Historical Society from 1 to 2:30 p.m. today. Explore the music, dance and folktales of the people who lived in the hills and hollows of the Appalachian Mountains, which includes parts of western Pennsylvania. Create your own image of Appalachian life on an individual quilt-piece to take home as a memento. There is a fee, which includes a tour of the site.
