Ohiopyle announces interpretive programs

Ohiopyle State Park has announced several upcoming interpretive programs.

Program subjects, days and time are as follows:

Amphibians and reptiles, 8 p.m. Today at the Kentuck Campground Amphitheater, will explore amphibians and reptiles under the instruction of April Claus. Contact person is Clyde Trout.

Cup of Joe and Go will be held at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the Kentuck Campground contact station. Participants will have some Shade Grown coffee and learn how the brew helps the birds at Ohiopyle. Barbara Wallace is contact person.

Amphibians and reptiles, will be held again at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Train Station and Visitors Center. Wallace is contact person.

Fur trading will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Train Station and Visitor’s Center. The program will show the impact fur trading in earlier times had on wildlife. Trout is contact person.

Why is Pennsylvania so Gassy will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kentuck Campground Amphitheater. The program will look at both sides of the Marcellus shale issue. Rose Fuge is contact person.

Tree ID Hike will; be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Train Station and Visitor’s Center. Participants will learn how to identify various trees along A wooded hike. Wallace is contact person.

Ohiopyle History video will be shown at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Train Station. This 20-minute video is an overview of Ohiopyle and its history. Wallace is contact person.

Tom Faucet will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Kentuck Campground Contact Station. This short hike ends graveside for a first person interpretation of Tom Faucet while exploring his claim of shooting General Braddock during the French and Indian War. Trout is contact person.
