Welcome, Dr. Chadwick

3 min read

Hello, again. Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is J. Eric Chadwick II, MD and I am a Board Certified Family Physician. I have been practicing medicine in Southwestern Pennsylvania for the last 12 years- first as a resident physician at The Washington Hospital, then as a staff physician with Centerville Clinics, Inc. Last year I joined the SRMC Healthcare Group and have been serving as a hospitalist for the last several months. Now, with great excitement and anticipation, I am returning to practice outpatient Family Medicine.

The new office, located at 102 Carmichaels Plaza, will offer a full menu of family-based primary care services including pediatrics, adolescents, adults and seniors. I will be available during weekdays for routine checkups as well as acute medical problems. We will also offer blood work by appointment on select days based on need.

If you have had a chance to listen to my radio ad, you may have gathered my philosophy on medicine is pretty straightforward. To me, family medicine is about putting the person before the problem. By this I mean that knowing the patient as an individual is invaluable in resolving whatever medical issues they may have.

Advances in medical knowledge and technology have expanded the abilities of today’s physician to diagnose and treat a vast array of diseases. Simply ordering tests and prescribing medications, although often necessary, don’t take into account all aspects of the individual in terms of financial and emotional need. Oftentimes, a simple conversation will reveal details that an x-ray can’t find and a pill won’t fix. That’s what this practice will be all about – getting to know you, the patient, and forming a lasting partnership through which you can live a happier and healthier life.

I’ve often been asked what inspired me to become a physician, and I draw upon two of my past experiences. The first involves my youngest brother who required 42 stitches to fix an injury that had him in tears one minute, and smiling happily the next. The second is the relationship I have with my own childhood family doctor. He was a man who took the time to know my family and me inside and out. I still get together with him when I visit my hometown of Connecticut.

Too often in today’s society, going to the doctor’s office is considered a chore – an impersonal experience that results in little more than a prescription or specialist referral.

Together, we can break this cycle and leave you feeling as though you’re part of the family. Come see me.
