Lori’s look
?Last weekend my husband and I went on our first Yough Lake outing of the summer.
When I was in high school, my mom and dad had a boat at the lake, and I love that I am still able to go with family and friends on my in-laws’ boat, since said parents got rid of theirs. Hint, hint, mom and dad. Buy a new boat.
There is just something so natural and serene about sitting on the calm lake, having a nice lunch and just enjoying the day. And you can’t get much better surroundings than the beautiful mountains and trees of the Laurel Highlands. Plus, last Sunday the water seemed to be right at the perfect temperature, and everyone was swimming.
If you have the chance to rent a boat, buy a boat or use a friend’s, I highly recommend it. It will be an enjoyable day.
This weekend, instead of cooling off at the lake, I will be judging chili at the Five Alarm Madness Chili Cookoff at Nemacolin Woodlands. And being that I eat soup almost daily, even in the 90-degree heat, chili on a Saturday afternoon should be a piece of cake.
So, with heat on my mind, I wanted to mention that state Rep. Tim Mahoney will be on the Hot Seat this Wednesday on the Heraldstandard.com website. The Hot Seat is a new online section where individuals at the center of “hot” topics in our area will sit down with Executive Editor Mark O’Keefe and answer those tough questions that everyone wants to know about. A new show will air online every other Wednesday.
