Pat Mullin of Redstone Township was an outstanding Major League outfielder for a number of years. Here’s a photo from 1947 of members of the Brownsville Elks, who sponsored a trip to Detroit to honor him during a doubleheader with the New York Yankees. Mullin met with a large contingent of fans from the Brownsville area before and after the game. A former resident of Grindstone and later Brownsville, Mullin is shown with five members of the group. In the photo (from left) are Nick Verbanic, Ray DeCarlo, Americus Bandes, Mulllin, Nick Teti and Fred Cuteri. A special train left the Union Station in Brownsville on Saturday and returned late Sunday night after the doubleheader. Anyone wishing to submit a Remember When photo can do so by sending it to Herald-Standard, c/o Mark O’Keefe, 8-18 E. Church St., Uniontown, Pa., 15401. Everyone in the photo must be identified and background information for the caption must be included.
