Confluence Creative Arts Center hosts group sing
On Sunday, the Confluence Creative Arts Center will host a community sing beginning at noon. The first community Folks Sing was held in January to a receptive and enthusiastic group who was interested in meeting regularly.
Sunday’s Folk Sing will allow individuals who like to sing an opportunity to join together for an informal song-swap of favorite feel-good tunes, campfire songs and old-timey gospel hymns by artists such as the Carter Family, Gillian Welch, Pete Seeger, Ralph Stanley, and others.
The Arts Center has copies of “Rise Up Singing,” a group songbook, for participants to share.
The folk tradition will be further emphasized with a potluck following the singing.
The atmosphere will be welcoming and friendly and participants may arrive and depart with flexibility to accommodate other Sunday commitments.
Individuals, groups or families who are interested in participating may bring acoustic instruments to play, music with guitar chords to pass around, folding chairs and a potluck dish, beverage or dessert.
Volunteers will be asked to take turns leading the songs. A donation basket will be passed.
The Confluence Creative Arts Center is located at 533 Williams Street, one block off the main square in this Trail Town. Funded in part by the Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance and the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, as well as other business and individual donors, the Confluence Creative Arts Center is a cultural community resource committed to making art, theater, and music accessible to residents and tourists in the Turkeyfoot Area.
