Soroptimist schedules fifth annual 5K Osteoporosis Walk, Health Fair
Soroptimists International of Fayette County will hold the Fifth Annual 5K Osteoporosis Walk and Health Fair on May 14 at Mount St. Macrina from 8 a.m. until noon. This annual event promotes education and awareness of osteoporosis and has raised thousands of dollars to fund local bone density screenings for uninsured individuals and prevention education programs throughout the community.
The Soroptimists and their medical partners of Grandview Medical Center and Laurel Highlands OB-GYN will again be joined by Michelle Wright, television news anchor for WTAE-TV as the “celebrity walker” for the event.
Co-chairmen for the event are Sally Bryan and Melody Filicky. The Health Fair is being coordinated by Norma Snyder.
Businesses, organizations and individuals are encouraged to organize teams of walkers for the event and obtain donations. Anyone interested in sponsoring this event or wanting additional information should call Sally at 724-437-8946 or Melody at 724-245-0315.
