Librarian’s Corner: Look into coupon books, online newspapers
As you read this, you may be preparing for the big dinner tomorrow- Thanksgiving. Or, if you didn’t have time to read the paper, you may have a tummy full of turkey, stuffing and pie as you read this.
The Uniontown Public Library will be closed for Thanksgiving Day and again on Friday, Nov. 25. We will be open our regular hours Saturday, the 26th.
Don’t forget to stop and visit with George Von Benko on Saturday, the 26th, and pick up a signed copy of his book, “Memory Lane.” Sales are going quite well, and the book will make a great Christmas gift for sports fans from this area.
Our Wednesday and Thursday Story Times are a delight for the preschoolers who attend. Stories, a craft, finger-play, songs and a light snack make a fun time for the kiddos.
Did you know you can now read the HeraldStandard.com, the Post Gazette, and the Tribune Review from our web page?
From our main page, click on “America’s News,” then on the title of the paper you’re looking for. Most recent issues of HeraldStandard.com will not appear as the lapse between published date and date of access on this site varies between publishers, and ranges from one to 14 days.
Just in time for your holiday gift-giving, the 2012 Dining with Friends Restaurant Coupon Books are here!
This is the second year the Friends of the Library have produced this book, and already, folks are picking up the books. The coupon books are only $20 — same price as last year with 55 coupons in the book from a variety of restaurants in the area — not just in Uniontown. Some are in Connellsville, Lemont Furnace, Masontown, Brownsville, Waynesburg, Smithfield, Hopwood, Farmington, Carmichaels, Markleysburg, Belle Vernon, Grindstone and Dunbar.
Most are right here in Uniontown.
When you pick up one for yourself, why not buy another as a gift? They will be great stocking-stuffers, or if you need a gift for a co-worker or “secret sister,” this is perfect. It will pay for itself after a couple of uses.
Come see us in the library, read a newspaper online and pick up a coupon book.
