The 2011″Poke” Memorial Ride will be held Sept. 25 with registration at Mahoney’s Bar & Grille in Uniontown from 9 to 11:45 a.m. All proceeds from the Ride will be donated to Warrior Canine Connection, a non-profit canine assistance and soldier rehabilitation program dedicated to helping veterans. The 10th annual Taste of Italy, one of the longest-running fund-raisers for the Brownsville Area Revitalization Corp., will feature nearly 20 regional winemakers competing Oct. 15. As in years past, the Taste of Italy will be held in the Brownsville Sons of Italy, Frank Ricco Lodge 731, at 16 Race St., beginning at 7 p.m. Taste of Italy tickets are on sale in advance and will be available at the door. Tickets are available by contacting BARC’s office at 724-785-9331. The office, located in the Flatiron Building, 69 Market St., Brownsville, is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

California University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Theatre and Dance, along with the Mon Valley Dance Council, will audition singers and dancers for roles in “A Christmas Carol, The Musical,” on Oct.1 in Steele Hall Mainstage Theatre. Performers may audition for singing and/or dancing roles in the musical version of the holiday classic. Male and female performers of all ages and ability levels are needed. Auditions are scheduled by age. Performance dates will be Dec. 8-11. Dr. Michael Slavin will direct the musical, with choreography by Diane Eperthener. For more information, call 724-938-4220.

The first exhibitions of the fall semester at the Creative Arts Center’s Mesaros Galleries are works by nationally recognized African American artists Nyame Brown, a painter and printmaker from South Bend, Ind., and Thaddeus Mosley, a sculptor from Pittsburgh. Both exhibitions will be open through Oct. 6. All Mesaros Galleries events, including art lectures, exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, from noon to 9:30 p.m. The galleries are closed Sundays and University holidays. Special individual or group viewing times may be arranged upon request.
