Fayette County Marcellus Shale Taskforce hosting public forum

1 min read

The Fayette County Marcellus Shale Task Force will host a public forum, “Marcellus Shale and Emergency Response – Is Fayette County Prepared?” on Monday, Oct. 3.

The forum will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Public Service Building, 22 E. Main St. in Uniontown.

Fayette County Commissioner Angela M. Zimmerlink, chairwoman of the task force, said public safety representatives from Chevron, Williams and Fayette County Emergency Management Agency will discuss emergency response and preparedness in the event of an incident relating to Marcellus shale natural gas well operations, compressor stations and pipelines.

“Quite often I am asked if Fayette County is prepared to respond in the event of a gas well blowout or other natural gas-related emergency, so here is an opportunity for residents of Fayette County to hear directly from natural gas companies and our own EMA so I urge public attendance and participation,” Zimmerlink said.
