MVH announces weekly events
Monongahela Valley Hospital (MVH) is sponsoring a variety of informative programs during December. Many of the events will be held in the hospital’s Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center (ECC) unless otherwise noted.
Monday
Breast Cancer Support Group
2 to 4 p.m., hospital 7-East Family Room. This support group is free and open to all breast cancer patients and their families. The group meets the first Monday of each month. For more information, call 724-258-1704.
Innovations in Acid Reflux Disease
6 p.m., Mon-Vale HealthPLEX. Dr. Hiram A. Gonzalez will present a free program to discuss common causes and treatments of acid reflux disease. This program is part of MVH’s “Innovations in Medicine” series featuring physician guest speakers providing medical information to the community. Refreshments will be served, and parking is free. Baby Care Class
6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Mon-Vale HealthPLEX. Parents-to-be will learn baby care basics at this instruction session. Topics include home safety, car seat safety, immunizations, breast and bottle feeding, pacifiers, bathing infants and additional topics. For more information, call 724-258-BABY (2229), extension 25.
Wednesday
Bone Density Screening
1 to 3 p.m., Healthy Directions at the Finleyville Giant Eagle. This free screening will indicate if someone is in need of a bone density test and if they have osteoporosis. No appointments are necessary. For more information, call 724-348-6699.
Thursday
Stroke Support Group
1 to 2:30 p.m., ECC. The Stroke Support Group is designed for patients and caregivers to share, learn and grow with people who can personally relate to the challenges and struggles they face on a daily basis dealing with stroke and its after effects. For more information, call 724-258-1455.
Healthy Eating Supermarket Tours
1 to 3 p.m., Healthy Directions at the Finleyville Giant Eagle. How healthy are you eating? Join a registered dietician for a grocery store tour and discuss “How to Eat Healthier During the Holidays.” The tour is free, but space is limited. Advance registrations is required and can be made by calling 724-258-1483.
