Flat Iron Heritage Center Museum and the Frank Melega Art Museum on Market Street in Brownsville is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, or by appointment. There is no admission charge but donations are welcome. The museum features artifacts from the National Road and industrial eras as well as a gift shop. To schedule an appointment, call 724-785-9331.
The Fayette County Law Library presents The Fayette County Law Library presents Jennifer Frame, with her “Pet Portraits and Others,” as the artist of the month. You can view her artwork on at the Law Library on the second floor of the Fayette County Courthouse. The public is invited, admission is free and the hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

St. Thérese Church in Uniontown will hold its annual Pre-Lenten Mardi Gras Dinner Dance Saturday at the Hopwood Social Hall. Entertainment will be provided by Pittsburgh’s “No Bad Ju Ju” and local DJ Paul McGrady. Tickets can be purchased by calling Brenda at 412-582-1568.

Waynesburg University will host ETA3 Tuesday, as part of the University’s Performing Art Series. The concert will be held in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. ETA3 was formed in early 2006 at The Juilliard School by clarinetist Alexey Gorokholinsky, pianist Tomoko Nakayama and flutist Emily Thomas.
The Waynesburg University Music Program and the Department of Fine Arts will offer its first Chamber Works Concert of the semester Feb. 23, at noon. The event will be held in the Marsh Center. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. Chamber Works ensembles include percussion, piano, strings, woodwind, jazz combo and the beauty and barber shop quartets. The first concert will feature performances by select vocal and instrumental ensembles comprised of students in Waynesburg University’s applied music studio courses. The Sagebrush Roundup lineup for Saturday includes open stage 6 to 6:30 p.m. with The Round-Up Band, Larry Reed, Howard Knight the Nightriders, Jeff Frey and Wildfire. There is a fee to attend. The St. Vincent Gallery will present works by regional artists in an exhibit entitled, “2 x 20: Twenty Regional Artists Everyone Should Know,” today through Feb. 26 during regular Gallery hours, 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays to Sundays. Admission is free and open to the public. An opening reception with the artists will be held in the gallery, located on the third floor of the Robert S. Carey Student Center on the campus of St. Vincent College, Latrobe from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
“Teenie Harris, Photographer: An American Story,” the first major retrospective exhibition of the work and legacy of African American artist Charles “Teenie” Harris, is now on view at Carnegie Museum of Art. The exhibition runs through April 7.

City Mission in Washington will hold its Sweet Sunday Dessert Festival Sunday at the Hilton Garden Inn, Southpointe. There is an admission fee. The cafe and auction will open at noon; dessert tables and Kids Korner will open at 1 p.m.; auction will be held at 4:30 p.m. And other activities at 6 p.m. This is City Mission’s largest fundraiser, netting $98,000 in 2011. The event this year will include 22 youth, amateur and professional desserts, three celebrity judges and a guest emcee, 45 gift baskets and Huggie Bear, the City Mission mascot. Admission to Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History is free to all visitors 3:30-8 p.m. every Thursday in February and March. Normal parking fees apply. Free Thursday nights in March are made possible by a gift from The Jack Buncher Foundation.
“Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion” runs through May 6 in the South Conference Wing of the new Convocation Center at California University of Pennsylvania. Doors are open seven days a week. The exhibit features 40 full-size replicas of those machines, painstakingly crafted from da Vinci’s own technical drawings, on display from noon to 8 p.m. daily.
