Railroad society plans exhibition
The Mon Valley Railroad Historical Society has planned two days of model railroading fun from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 14 and noon to 5 p.m. Jan. 15 at its exhibit at 128 Pleasant St. in downtown Morgantown, W.Va.
Admission is free but donations are welcome.
A spokesman for the group said many people may have received model trains as Christmas gifts and now wonder what they should do with them.
Questions such as how to build a permanent layout for the train, how to create scenery for a new miniature world, what is the best track to use, where to purchase more items for the train can be answered by society members at the show.
Features will include a 20-by-30-foot HO scale model railroad, the largest HO scale railroad in North Central West Virginia with more than 600 feet of mainline track. Also on display will be diesel and steam locomotives and a modular railroad running two additional trains,
Visitors will receive free cake Jan. 14 to observe the society’s 25th anniversary.
There also will be videos, hot dogs, home baked goods and refreshments for sale.
A white elephant table with assorted railroad items will be included and a drawing will be held for a Harry Potter Hogwarts Express passenger train set.
