The multi-talented singer Bo Wagner brings his live show to the State Theatre Center for the Arts in Uniontown at 8 p.m. Feb. 11. Capturing the style and mannerisms of old blue eyes himself, Wagner’s sound and resemblance are remarkably similar to that of Frank Sinatra. Actors and Artists of Fayette County will hold open auditions for “The Secret Garden,” by Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon. The show is a musical adaptation of the classic novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Individuals will be required to sing 16-32 bars of a classic musical theater piece. There are two children’s roles, for 10-11 year olds, and 18 adult roles, and they all require good singing skills. Musical selections should be memorized and rehearsed. Songs from “The Secret Garden” may be sung. Auditions will be held on the mainstage of The Geyer Performing Arts Center, 111 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 11 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 14. Brownsville Area High School will be presenting the first high school production of “Legally Blonde: The Musical” March 1-3 at 7 p.m. and March 4 at 2 p.m. Tickets may be reserved and purchased by calling 724-785-8200 (option 1) or by emailing kbochna@basd.org.

The Brownsville Public Library and the Uniontown Public Libraries are hosting children’s author and local resident, Maryann B. Sawka, for two author events that include fundraising opportunities for the libraries. Sawka, a native of Brownsville, has recently published “Good Table Manners Made Easy,” and will be at the Uniontown Public Library at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 28, where she will host a story event for children. On Feb. 4, Sawka will be on-hand at the Brownsville Public Library at noon for a book event. The Friday Evening Music Club of Greensburg, a group of local music teachers and performers who meet once a month to perform solo and chamber music recitals, supports music studies of the area’s young people by offering a $1,000 scholarship award for high school seniors who plan on majoring in music at an accredited college or university. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must reside in either Westmoreland or Fayette counties. Eligible students must submit a recorded audition and application by Jan. 20. Finalists will audition in person Feb. 18 at the Performing Arts Center of Seton Hill University in Greensburg. The winner will be invited to perform at a FEMC monthly recital at Pitt-Greensburg’s Campana Chapel. The St. Vincent Gallery will present works by regional artists in an exhibit entitled, “2 x 20: Twenty Regional Artists Everyone Should Know,” Feb. 3-26 during regular Gallery hours, 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays to Sundays. Admission is free and open to the public. An opening reception with the artists will be held in the gallery, located on the third floor of the Robert S. Carey Student Center on the campus of St. Vincent College, Latrobe Feb. 2 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The application deadline is approaching for anyone interested in competing in the 22nd annual Miss Greene County Pageant, which will be held at 2 p.m. March 4, in the Stanley Ferek III Auditorium of Carmichaels Area High School. The pageant is open to Greene County girls ages 2 to 17. Applications will be accepted until noon on Jan. 30. Applications may also be downloaded from the Greene County website, www.co.greene.pa.us. All proceeds from the 2012 Miss Greene County Pageant will benefit Department of Recreation programs.
