Residents was stronger Marcellus gas regulations

By Heraldstandard.Com 1 min read

Residents urged the Fayette County commissioners to strengthen regulation of the Marcellus gas industry in a zoning ordinance amendment that has been proposed to comply with Act 13, the state’s gas and oil development law.

Most of the residents who spoke at Tuesday’s hearing for public comment about the proposed ordinance said gas wells and compressor stations are causing air, water and noise pollution, and the ordinance should contain more regulation over the industry. They also said more public input about the ordinance was needed.

Agreeing that more input was needed, the commissioners voted to recess the hearing and accept additional public comment. They said they would vote on the ordinance at a regular commissioners meeting, but indicated that the matter was unlikely to come up at their next meeting. No additional public comment meetings were scheduled.
