Wounded Warrior Benefit concert starring Darryl Worley hits Consol Energy Park May 18
Fresh off his trip overseas to perform for troops, country musician Darryl Worley is heading to Washington, PA to headline the Wounded Warrior Benefit Concert on Friday, May 18 as part of the weekend festival – Wash-Pa-Looza at Consol Energy Park.
“We’re looking forward to the show,” said Worley. “We have a strong fan base throughout the area and a lot of radio stations playing our songs. I love that the people out there are still die hard country music fans.”
Worley is no stranger to the music scene with his first number one dating back ten years ago with “I Miss My Friend.” Other popular tunes include “Have You Forgotten,” “Awful Beautiful Life” and I Just Came Back from a War” will be part of his performance, as well as new music from his forthcoming album set to be released this year, including his newest single “You Still Got It.”
“The new stuff is really different. It has more of an organic sound,” said Worley. “The new single is a great summertime groove and I think it has a message unlike anything I’ve done before. My wife says it’ll be my biggest hit among the female audience. I think everything on this record can be a hit song.”
In addition to Worley, Consol Energy Park will be overflowing with talent because the show line up also includes comedian Jim Labriola from Home Improvement, and local stars Sarah Marince, Abby Abbondanza (formerly of the Povertyneck Hillbillies) and the Steve Smith Band from Uniontown, PA.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project which helps focuses on raising awareness, programs and services for injured service members. Tickets for the show range from $16.95 – $24.95 and are available everywhere Ticketmaster tickets are sold.
“It will be extremely entertaining,” said Worley. “We’re going to come out playing the hits and some new stuff and have a good time. I’m excited to come back and see everyone that I haven’t seen in a while. If you’re looking for something to go out and do, relax and let your hair down for the evening – this is the place to be.”
In addition to the concert, Wash-PA-Looza features the Swank’s Steel City Show’s Midway and Carnival from May 17 – 20 with lights, food and fun rides for the whole family. On Saturday, May 19 there will be a free business expo with music by Johnny Angel and the Halos and the Four Townsmen from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and then a paid concert with Donnie Iris, Joe Grushecky and Chris Higbee (formerly of the Povertyneck Hillbillies) with tickets ranging from $21.95 – 29.95. Tickets for this show are available through Ticketmaster.
