Phipps to Host a Toast to a Greener Future at Wines Under Glass Garden Party
PITTSBURGH — On Oct. 19, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens will celebrate colorful new beginnings and green innovations such as the recently debuted Center for Sustainable Landscapes as community members and leaders gather for Wines Under Glass: Toasting Great Growth to a Greener Future. Showcasing varying cuisine, wine tastings and entertainment, this special soirée at Pittsburgh’s premier public garden promises to be as inspiring as it is beautiful.
Tickets for Wines Under Glass can be purchased through today at phipps.conservatory.org, by phone at 412-651-5281 or via email at reservations@phipps.conservatory.org. More details can be found online at phipps.conservatory.org.
Wines Under Glass will commence at 6:30 p.m. with a private VIP reception for benefactors complete with fine wines and small plates served within the environs of the Tropical Forest Conservatory. At 7:30 p.m., all other guests will join the party in time for the Green Hearts Reception, which features select wines and hors d’oeuvres, and a Green Heart Awards presentation.
Fall Flower Show exhibits will then add more to the night with thousands of chrysanthemums and other autumn blooms in shades of yellow, orange and fuchsia; fountains and an 1893 World’s Fair-themed Garden Railroad. Phipps’ new Center for Sustainable Landscapes, an important focal point of the evening, will also be open for guests to explore.
“Each year, Wines Under Glass provides a memorable opportunity for us to celebrate Phipps’ many achievements with all of the dedicated members, community leaders and other friends who support our efforts and help make our aspirations a reality,” says Phipps executive director Richard Piacentini. “Together, we are forging a brighter future for our region, and this special night is dedicated to honoring the truly innovative spirit of the people and places that make our city an inspiring place to live.”
