Performance set

The Stover Scholars at Waynesburg University will present “Bread, Bakers and the Constitution” noon Monday in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center on the campus.

Scholars Chase Ayers and Daniel Czajkowski created the show to celebrate Constitution Day. Professor Edward L. Powers will direct the play, which portrays the famed 1905 Lochner vs. New York Supreme Court case.

Organizations reach out

The Intermediate Unit 1 in Coal Center has been awarded a $300 grant by the Fayette County Buy Local Network. The grant will be used to create informational materials for families of special needs children in Fayette County. Intermediate Unit 1 offers a Local Task Force which includes concerned citizens, parents, educators and agencies that serve as advocates for students with disabilities. The committee also oversees school district special education programs in Fayette, Greene and Washington counties.

The Fayette County Buy Local Network created a Community Reinvestment Fund to show its commitment to supporting local communities. Funds are granted to support projects by eligible non-profit organizations chosen through an application process. For more information, contact Patricia Hazen at 724-938-3241.
