Fall themed dinner to benefit Healthy Start set for Oct. 6
Chef Joe Carei will team up with Duda’s Farm on Saturday for a Fall Foliage Dinner at the farm in Republic. Carei, chef of Caileigh’s and Ellie Mae’s Catering, will use produce from Duda’s Farm to create a five-course dinner to benefit Healthy Start. The festivities will start at 6 p.m.
Following a hayride and pumpkin martinis, dinner will start with a selection of appetizers including apple and goat cheese crostini, fall antipasto, duck quiche and pumpkin shooters with crab. The meal will then continue with butternut squash bisque with fire-roasted corn, pear and candied pecans over baby lettuces and endive, then Duck Coq au Vin with dried cherry or sweet-onion grilled rib eye. The meal will end with pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Pumpkin beer will also be available, but “bring your own bottle” is encouraged.
“We are once again excited about teaming up with Chef Joe for another great meal at our farm,” said Mark Duda. “It is the start of our fall season of hayrides, pumpkin hunts and our famous corn maze; our favorite time of year.”
Chef Joe is excited to help Healthy Start. “What better group to assist. Healthy Start is instrumental in reducing infant mortality and low-weight births in Southwestern Pa. They have many services that assist this goal, but they need funding,” he said.
Healthy Start’s goal is to reduce infant mortality, one baby at a time. But, they also offer seamless services to improve the quality of life of infants and their whole family. Home visiting services are free for those who qualify and are available to pregnant women, new parents and families parenting a child under the age of two years.
